Historical accuracy is difficult, but if true the story of Lidice is even more tragic. There is a version that two factory workers were having an affair and used their own code to send messages. The Gestapo found these messages and assumed that they were involved.Bth lived in Lidice and that is supposedly the reason it was chosen

The Czechoslovakians were beginning to accept German rule and had just delivered the German Wehrmacht a hospital train. Accepting German rule may have led to output from the huge Skoda factories, the biggest in Europe, and increased German military production.
